Green Globe Certified

At Gaia Riverlodge, we are proud to be certified by Green Globe, an internationally recognized program that assesses the sustainability of businesses in the travel industry. This certification affirms that we operate in an environmentally responsible manner and aim to minimize our impact on the environment and improve our operations.

Community Outreach Programs

We believe that a sustainable resort contributes positively to its surrounding community. We are constantly seeking new easy to support our community with outreach programs, such as supporting the Cornerstone Feeding Program in San Ignacio. This program provides daily delivery of nutritious meals to students and senior citizens in need. We are proud to rally behind such a meaningful cause and are honored to join this incredible team as they strive to alleviate hunger in the San Ignacio area. We also provide our support the nearby Belize Raptor Centre, a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, protecting, and rehabilitating injured and orphaned birds of prey in Belize.

Farm-to-Table Dining

At Gaia Riverlodge, our sustainability efforts can be experienced first-hand with delicious meals at our onsite restaurant. Our farm-to-table philosophy ensures that our guests enjoy fresh, nutritious meals while also supporting the local vendors and enjoying fresh produce from our very own organic garden. With the current expansion of our garden, we are thrilled to add a chicken coop, which will allow us to provide even fresher and more sustainable ingredients for our onsite restaurant, The Five Sisters Restaurant.

Eco-Friendly Accommodations

Our accommodations at Gaia Riverlodge are designed to minimize our impact on the environment while providing luxurious comfort for our guests. Our thatched-roof cabanas are constructed using indigenous materials, while energy efficiency programs, proper emissions management practices, and wastewater practices are in place to reduce our carbon footprint. We also encourage sustainable practices among our guests, such as water conservation and responsible use of electricity.
